The purpose of this simulation is to determine satisfactory parameters for a system to continuously control the concentration of an internal recycle liquor process. The main elements of the process are pigment reactors, filters, raw material storage, a sodium sulfate recovery plant, and a dilution liquor storage system.
rnThe simulation was programmed in FORTRAN IV using portions of IBM's Continuous Systems Modeling Program (CSMP). To solve the system of four simultaneous differential equations two numerical methods were programmed separately, since CSMP does not have a subroutine for such solutions. Integrating elements of the CSMP system with independent program modules proved an effective method of handling this problem.
