The National Astronomical Observatories of China is building a 50m-radio telescope with feed forward, which is a fully steerable tracking radio telescope and will be the largest one in China. Cone-support structure is one of the key parts in the 50m-radio telescope. Considering the symmetry of the received electric wave, rigidity and dynamic demands of cone-support, and influences on the blocked area, three styles of cone-support are proposed. Normal mode analyses for these cone-support structures are done with the Msc. Nastran software, and their-blocked areas are respectively calculated. The optimization model with the constrained conditions of normal modes and the objective function of total weight is built and optimized, according to sensitivity analysis and optimization of the Msc. Nastran software. By all-around comparing, the best one is chosen and determined. Finally, an engineering structure style is achieved, and mechanical analysis is verified. The results shown in Tables and Figures provide references for designing the 50m-radio telescope.
