MAIN RESULTS OF THE SATELLITE SURVEY OF THE BALTIC AND CASPIAN SEAS: SURFACE OIL POLLUTION

This paper summarizes some of the main results ofrnmany-year satellite monitoring conducted in aquaticrnareas of the Baltic and Caspian Seas. Starting fromrn2009 up to 2012 a satellite survey of the central andrnsouth-eastern zones of the Baltic Sea and the centralrnzone of the Caspian Sea was carried out by the SpacernRadar Laboratory of the Space Research Institute ofrnRAS. The main attention was focused on the detectionrnof oil pollutions as well as biogenic and anthropogenicrnsurfactant films.
