LOW TEMPERATURE VISCOSITY BEHAVIOR OF TRANSFORMER OILS

摘要

This paper describes viscosity studies on several transformer oils and oil substitutes such as silicone fluid. Both kinematic and dynamic viscosities were measured. The temperature range studied included -40℃ to +20℃. Viscosity-temperature plots indicated a linear correlation. At very low shear rates, the dynamic viscosity behavior was close to that of the kinematic viscosity. This data is useful in selecting oils for cold climate applications.
