EARTH OBSERVATION FOR LAND-ATMOSPHERE INTERACTION SCIENCE

The European Space Agency (ESA), iLEAPS (IntegratedrnLand Ecosystem-Atmosphere Processes Study,rni.e. the land-atmosphere core project of the InternationalrnGeosphere-Biosphere Programme), and the EuropeanrnGeosciences Union (EGU) jointly organized the "EarthrnObservation for Land-Atmosphere Interaction Science"rnconference, which took place from 3rd to 5th Novemberrn2010 at the Italian premises of ESA in Frascati (Rome).rnThe event represented an attempt to effectively drawrntogether Earth-Observation (EO) and Earth-system scientistsrninvestigating land-atmosphere processes in orderrnto better understand the current gaps in science and derivernrecommendations to advance in the use of EO technologyrnin the context of this important topic.rnAround 200 people from more than 30 countries worldwidernmet and discussed for three intensive days. Thisrnpaper reports keypoints and the main recommendationsrnof the conference for each of the key themes addressed.
