A COMMON DPU PLATFORM FOR ESA JUICE MISSION INSTRUMENTS

This paper describes the resulting hardwarernand software platform based on GR712RC [1]rnLEON3-FT that Cobham Gaisler developed inrnaccordance with the common system requirementsrnof the ten scientifc instruments on-boardrnthe ESA JUICE spacecraft destined the Jupiterrnsystem [8].rnThe radiation hardened DPU platform featuresrnEDAC protected boot, application memoryrnand working memory of confgurable sizesrnand SpaceWire, FPGA I/O-32/16/8, GPIO,rnUART and SPI I/O interfaces. The designrnhas undergone PSA, Risk, WCA, Radiationrnanalyses etc. to justify component and designrnchoices resulting in a robust design that can bernused in spacecrafts requiring a total dose uprnto 100krad(Si). The prototype board manufacturedrnuses engineering models of the rightrncomponents to ensure that development is representative.rnValidated boot, standby and driver software accommodatesrnthe various DPU platform confgurations.rnThe boot performs low-level DPUrninitialization, standby handles OBC SpaceWirerncommunication and fnally the loading and executingrnof application images typically stored inrnthe non-volatile application memory.
