FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF CRYOSAT-2 DATA OVER OCEANS

CryoSat-2 LRM Level 2 products (15 July 2010 to 21rnJanuary 2011) have been used in this analysis. The LRMrnLevel 2 product contains only low bit-rate data with thernaim to be used for ocean applications. It is also the onlyrnLevel 2 product released for calibration and validationrn(cal/val) so far. An alternative product, which, by design,rnwould have been more suitable for oceanic studies, thernFDM product, was not yet released prior to the CryoSat-rn2 Workshop.rnAll LRM L2 data were inserted into RADS for analysisrnand comparison to other satellites currently flying, particularlyrnEnvisat. This analysis shows that the altimeterrnrange has a bias of approximately 3.8 m (measuringrntoo long), and that all measurements are offset in time byrnabout 8.2 ms (measurements time tagged too late).
