In this work 1.5 years operation of an ItalianrnSecondary School has been monitored viarnwi-fi instruments for checking electricalrnconsumptions as well as energy need of thernbuilding. Electrical measurements havernbeen carried out for the whole period, whilernenergy need of the building has beenrnmonitored for the second year.rnIn this study only the electricalrnconsumption and lighting conditions, byrnmeans of simulations and measurementsrntaken with the wi-fi sensors, are reported.rnThe simulations have been carried outrnwith the software DAYSIM, which gives thernannual illuminance profiles for a specificrnsensor point. From these profiles, some newrnUDI indexes have been monthly calculatedrnin order to predict glare occurrence and howrnmany times electric light would be switchedrnon to provide the required illuminancernvalues. The classrooms face to South andrnWest, so the two different orientations havernbeen compared, in order to underline thernimportance of orientation in daylightingrnavailability.
