Impregnation of Fiber Bundles with Particle-Laden Resin in Vacuum-Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM)

We focus on impregnation process of particle-laden resin in fiber bundles in the system known as vacuum-assisted resin transfer moldings (VARTM). In the present study, we visualize the resin to fill the fibrous porous and the suspended particles to flow and deposit in the fiber bundles. We reconstruct the path lines of the fluorescent particles as well as the tip of the resin advancing in the bundles. We also evaluate the deposition process of the particles among the fibers.
