The latest developments in fluorescent quenching measurement techniques for trace level (lowrnparts per billion) oxygen in liquid and gaseous process streams are presented. The operatingrnprincipals of the optical fluorescent quenching method of oxygen measurement will bernpresented, comparing the methods used for high-range (parts per million) measurement, vs tracerangern(low parts per billion). The on-going development of application-specific luminophoresrnwill be discussed, which allow the system to be tailored to both specific oxygen ranges and otherrnspecies measurement. As an emerging technology, examples of early applications will bernoffered, along with results based upon field experience. Although the underlying physics andrnsupporting formulae will be referenced, the emphasis of the presentation will be on practicalrnapplication in the real worldrnThis paper offers a discussion of the latest developments in fluorescent quenching measurementrntechniques for trace level (low parts per billion) oxygen in liquid and gaseous process streams.rnA comparison to current technology will be presented, with a discussion of how existingrnproblems have been overcome.
