摘要

The effects of boron (B) on the microstructure and grain refining efficiency of Al-Ti-C master alloy havernbeen investigated by preparing a series of Al-Ti-C-B master alloys using a melt reaction method in this paper. It is found thatrnwith the increasing B addition. the microstructure of Al-Ti-C-B is improved and the nucleating particles are homogeneouslyrndispersed in the matrix. Besides. TiC and TiB_2 particle size also increases correspondingly. Furthermore. the addition of Brnhas greatly improved the grain refining efficiency of Al-Ti-C master alloy. especially the fading resistance ability withrnprolonged time. It is supposed that the increased nucleating particle dispersion and particle size have increased the volumernfraction of active particles. which is supposed to account for the excellent grain refining performance.
