Ionic polyurethane prepolymers were first synthesized from polyethylene glycol, 2, 4-toluene diisocyanate, hy-drazine monohydrate, dimethylolbutanoic acid (DMBA) and triethylamine (TEA) , and then the corresponding polyurethane emulsions were prepared via phase inverse technique. The influences of the mole ratio of—NCO/—OH and the — COOH content on the mechanical and thermal properties of latex films were investigated. Results showed that the stable emulsions with good mechanical properties and thermal stability could be obtained when the mole ratio of—NCO/—OH was 1. 2.
