Pinang Field has two adjacent, anticlinal closuresrnwith NW-SE trend, bounded by a thrust fault on thernSW side of the trend. Early study on this fieldrnshows that the original oil water contact (OOWC) isrndifferent between closures. One closure has anrnOOWC at a level deeper than its spill point. Arnstructural interpretation was conducted to see ifrnfaulting could explain this potentialrncompartmentalization. However the result shows nornobvious evidence of faults between the twornclosures. This fact was the driver to look beyondrnstructural compartmentalization and try tornincorporate more data and methods to explain thernphenomenon stratigraphically.rnA seismic model based inversion has been utilizedrnto generate an impedance volume. 4 out of 5 wellsrnthat have sonic logs were incorporated to build therninitial model. The output impedance was furtherrntransformed to porosity and volume of shalernthrough seismic multi attribute process.rnIntegrated interpretation by combining seismicrnattributes, sets of core and well logs has providedrnnew insight on architecture of the reservoir where itrnis now interpreted that the boundary between thernclosures was due to different depositional settingsrnand lithologies.
