Introducing Virtualization Management Concepts Using Open Source Cloud Infrastructure Managers

Virtualization and cloud computing have been widely adopted in industry. The need for information technology (IT) professionals with virtualization knowledge is growing steadily. It is important for IT students to understand basic concepts and gain skills in virtualization and virtualization management. In addition to creating new curriculum in virtualization technologies and enterprise data storage, we are developing hands-on lab modules which can be incorporated in multiple IT courses so students can learn virtualization in context and learn virtualization management early. These labs are created using open source cloud infrastructure managers such as ProxMox and unxsVZ and are delivered in different ways and by different systems including open source cloud system such as Virtual Computing Lab, among others.
