The Poly (ethylene terephthalate-co-sodium-5-sulfo- isophthalate-co-2-methyl-1, 3-propanediol) copolyester was prepared due to addition of sodium-5- sulfo-isophthalate (SIPE) and 2-methyl-1, 3- propanediol (MPD) during the polymerization of polyethylene terephthalate. HNMR was used to measure the composition of copolyester. The crystalline property of copolyesters was studied by DSC and Wide- angle X-ray. The hydrophilicity was investigated by contact angle testing. The results showed that the content of MPD was a little higher, adding MPD decreased the crystalline properties, but the copolyester with increasing content of MPD could have better hydrophilicity. The fiber of the copolyester would have better dyeing performance.
