Auditory saliency captures visual timing

A novel illusion in which saliency in an auditory stream (context) captures the timing of visual stimulus was reported by the author (Kayahara, 2005, Perception 34, 217). The illusion might indicate that cross-modal information binding is accomplished after "pre-process" such as grouping or segregation in one modality. In this study, the effect of luminance of visual stimulus on the illusion was examined, and regardless of the magnitude of the luminance, the illusion was robustly obtained.
