摘要

This paper briefly reviews the main design idea of a recently developed relative displacement sensor and presents its application to the condition monitoring of shear connectors in composite bridges under ambient vibrations.The accuracy of the developed relative displacement sensor is validated by comparing with the output from two laser displacement sensors.A slab-on-girder composite bridge model is fabricated in the laboratory and an exciter is placed on the model to generate the white noise excitations.The relative displacements and traditional accelerations are measured and used for the damage detection.The results demonstrate that the relative displacements show a superior performance than accelerations in monitoring the condition change of shear connections in composite bridges.
