The paper investigates barriers to innovation in epedagogy,rnseeks answer to the following basic question:rn“why teachers underutilize innovative tools?”.rnThe Authors report on a case study that was carried out atrnthe Silesian University of Technology. Teachers using thernMoodle learning platform were surveyed to see:rn1) to what extent they made use of its different elements,rn2) identify barriers in e-learning development and seernteachers’ general opinion about this form of education.rnFirstly, based on the survey results, comments relatedrnwith these two groups of questions are given, then somerngeneral conclusions are drawn. Answer to the basicrnquestion is given as well, however no specialrnrecommendations for ensuring that teachers embracernrather than resist a move to e-education are offered. Itrnlooks that “carrot and stick” is the only effective policyrnthat is able to force teachers to leave their “classroomrnkingdom”.
