CHRONOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SUGAR ALLIED INDUSTRY, ITS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY IN INDIA

Initially, the Sugar Industry was centered in the Eastern part of the country, beginning with the first Sugar Plant said to have been set up at Aska in Orissa in 1824. Thereafter, a number of Sugar Factories came up in Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, increasing the number gradually to about 148 by 1941, including those in Punjab.
