The prediction of the remaining lifetime of existing pipelines is a critical aspect ofrnany long-term asset management program and the programming as well asrnprioritization of the maintenance and repair activities.rnThe Pipe Risk Management System (PRMS) is method developed for lifetimernprediction for the Great Manmade River Authority, in Libya. The Tucson WaterrnDepartment, in Arizona implemented a revised version of the PRMS. The methodrnutilizes several inputs for the purposes of predicting the remaining lifetime including:rnstructural modeling, finite element analysis, operating environment and conditions,rnchemical analysis, and corrosion algorithms. The model also utilizes visualrninspection information, NDT verification from Electromagnetic Inspections andrnStructural Health Monitoring via an acoustic monitoring of PCCP for Wire breaks tornmeasure the accuracy and uncertainty of the empirical methods.rnThe system has now been in use for multiple years and substantial feedback has beenrnreceived from the users. This paper will present the lessons learned and thernimprovements made to the application such as: the GIS representation, calculationrnmodel refinement, and the link to additional systems. Finally the expansion of thernsystem to new pipe types such as Steel, DIP, and CIP will be discussed.
