The collective electronic excitation (plasmon) modes of carbon nanotube bundles aligned in both two-and three-dimensional superiattices have been calculated. The series of modes obtained can be viewed as combination of three contributions: (i) a one-tubule contribution, (ii) a uniform 2D or 3D buk contribution, and (iii) a contribution related to the lattice structure. The one-tubule contribution is dominant for plasmon wavelenths small compared to intertubule distance a i.e.for aq 1. For large wavelenths aq1, however, thev then to those of the 2D or 3D uniform electron gas. The lattice contribution is dominant for intermediate wavelenths.
