Abstract: It was shown that self-processing photopolymerizablesystem can be used as holographic recording media inthe field of microholography. Gabor holograms wererecorded with high intensity single laser pulses. Thein-line set-up involved a FD pulsed YAG laser and thepulse duration was about 9 ns. A power per pulse of ca20 mJ corresponding to an energy density at the sampleof 150 mJ/cm$+$MIN@2$/ was capable of generation in theemulsion excited species and of inducing an efficientpolymerization by a free radical mechanism. Incoherentpreillumination of the sample by a suitable UV sourcewas necessary to obtain this result with one laserpulse only. Images corresponding to these phase in-lineholograms were reconstructed with fair resolution usingan He-Ne laser, a wavelength at which the polymermaterial is not sensitive. Apart from this, the pairingof similar emulsions with a cw green He-Ne laser waspossible. The available power density was reduced downto 0.4 mW/cm$+$MIN@2$/ and gratings diffractionefficiencies of approximately 50 percent were achievedfor an exposure time of 2 minutes. In that case, thepurpose was to design low- cost, unsophisticated andnot overly time-consuming manipulations, notably forsimple demonstrations or university experiments ofholography and interferometry. !6
