Abstract: In this paper some developments of optical techniques for space communication and space-based SAR are discussed. More specifically, the development of an optical-based frequency synthesizer is presented. In addition, the advantages of optical fiber technology for phased array systems with regard to signal distribution, beamforming/steering and multifrequency operations will be described. An optical neural net processor for pattern recognition application will also be presented.!20
