In order to evaluate risk asosciated with hydraocarbon vapor transport we have collected soil gas data in vertical profiles from the surface to depth of contamination at a large number of hydrocarbon-impacted sites. As a result of this effort we have determined that there is a consitent pattern to the vertical profile of soil gases in shallow uncontaminated soil.
