This paper discusses the structure and requirement of MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) of Power System, analyzes the pressure facing by the construction of MAN, and mainly discourses on the RPR (Resilient Packet Ring) based MSTP architecture and MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology. The application of those two combined technologies in MAN of Power System is also introduced. Obviously, the project just mentioned above has unparalleled advantages. It is also a feasible solution for future intellective optical network.
