Abstract: Thirty-six cases of crystal hyaline cortex emulsification operations for immature cataract with an YAG laser are reported in this paper. According to the basic theory of interaction between laser and tissues, the mechanisms of laser induced hyaline cortex emulsification in the operation are discussed, and it is put forward that the mechanical effect of laser plasma shock wave and photochemical effect of plasma flash on eye tissues result in degeneration and coagulation of the crystal hyaline cortex tissue protein. !5
