Smart Production Monitoring Management Information Systems

While oil and gas operations have used a variety of software systems, especially during the early yearsrnof u0002digital oilfieldu0002, very few produced sustainable "smart" work. This industry is arguably in a new wavernof the digital oilfield, with a renewed focus on transformed work and the software systems which arernnecessary to enable this transformation. While perspectives vary, there appears to be a growing consensusrnthat "smart" operation is essential, and it is sufficiently different from "reacting better" or installations ofrnoperations centers with insufficient transformation of work and collaboration.rnThis paper will present a perspective on u0002smartu0002 operation, and the value and approach of systemsrnwhich enable and sustain this change. One example of current implementation will be presented, alongrnwith perspectives on newer technologies such as Cloud and Internet of Things as they can be applied tornoil & gas operations.
