Stones Development: Turritella FPSO - Design and Fabrication of the World's Deepest Producing Unit

The Stones Project is Shell Offshore Inc.'s ("Shell") play opener discovery in the emerging Lower Tertiaryrntrend in the Gulf of Mexico ultra-deep water (9,500 ft. water depth). To address the step wise development ofrnthe Stones field, Shell selected a floating production, storage and offloading unit ("FPSO") for the floatingrnproduction system. The Turritella FPSO is the deepest floating production system in the world and presentedrnmany challenges to successful execution of the surface host facilities.
