This paper examines hydrate stability against changes inrnseasonal weather, sediment slumps, sea-level fluctuations withrntime, glacial conditions, and topographic changes with time.rnThe purpose is to determine longevity of hydraternaccumulations with geological time and to determine theirrnimpact on geological regions and stability. The results indicaternthat stable geological conditions are not always the bestrnlocations for hydrates-dynamical changes can lead to higherrnhydrate production and retention. The significance is that thernperturbation of potential hydrocarbon accumulation sites byrnhydrate appearance and disappearance, together with thernvariability of the potential worth of the hydrate accumulationsrnthemselves, may play a more important role than so farrnrecognized in evaluation of economic worth.
