摘要

Corrosion, scale, asphaltenes, wax, sand, hydrates, and emulsions are common problems encountered inoil and gas production. Production chemicals have been developed to mitigate their effects, but manyoperators are not aware of the value of a systematic approach utilizing flow assurance, materials science,and production chemistry to create an optimized production chemical management program (PCMP). Theeffect of unoptimized production chemical expenses on operational expenditures can shorten the economiclife of an asset; Therefore the necessity of implementing an effective PCMP is of paramount importancegiven the persistence of the low cost environment in oil and gas production nowadays. This paper focuseson the analysis of diverse field experiences from projects where the authors have been involved for severalyears, and the lessons learned in the process of developing and managing effective PCMPs. It aims to bea guideline on the necessary information and practices that are essential when developing a managementprogram for efficient chemical utilization in offshore projects.
