摘要

Corrosion, scale, asphaltenes, wax, sand, hydrates, and emulsions are common problems encountered in oil and gas production. Production chemicals have been developed to mitigate their effects, but many operators are not aware of the value of a systematic approach utilizing flow assurance, materials science, and production chemistry to create an optimized production chemical management program (PCMP). The effect of unoptimized production chemical expenses on operational expenditures can shorten the economic life of an asset; Therefore the necessity of implementing an effective PCMP is of paramount importance given the persistence of the low cost environment in oil and gas production nowadays. This paper focuses on the analysis of diverse field experiences from projects where the authors have been involved for several years, and the lessons learned in the process of developing and managing effective PCMPs. It aims to be a guideline on the necessary information and practices that are essential when developing a management program for efficient chemical utilization in offshore projects.
