Abstract: The design of the planar multi-layer switches, obtained by the Euler path through the switch intersection graph (IG), is discussed with regard to the (1) minimum crossings (2) minimum number of stages (NS) and (3) minimum crosstalk (of 1st order). The main part is devoted to crossing waveguides between the switching matrix (equivalent parallel waveguides, PWs) and the path-selection switches (PS - SWs). !21
