The Regional Connector Transit Corridor Project will connect the existing Blue, Gold and ExpornLines which serve Santa Monica, Pasadena, Long Beach and the Eastside to downtown, but do not currentlyrninterconnect. Along the alignment three underground stations, one crossover mined cavern, and four crosspassagesrnwill be constructed. As the alignment runs through the heart of downtown Los Angeles, a numberrnof existing buildings, structures, and utilities are located within the potential influence zone caused by thernproject’s underground construction. During the advanced preliminary engineering phase, a building protectionrnprogram was carried out to identify potential risks to the adjacent structures and suitable measures to mitigaternthe anticipated impacts. The paper discusses a systematic approach during advanced preliminary design tornensure protection of adjacent and buildings and structures along the alignment and a summary of the resultsrnand recommended mitigation measures.
