Risk Registers and Their Use as a Contract Document

Since the international version of the Code of Practice for Risk Management of Tunnel Worksrnwas introduced by ITIG in 2006, the use of a risk register to identify and manage project risk is increasinglyrnbecoming standard practice. The risk register has generally not been used during procurement or presentedrnas a contract document for design-bid-build contracts. Can a risk register become a contract document inrnfixed price contract procurement? This paper looks around the World for guidance on how to better managernrisk by transferring risk registers through procurement as a contract document. Tools such as pre-award riskrnnegotiation, early notice of risks, and risk-related release of contingency will be assessed.
