摘要

Through laboratory testing we were able to compare different retrofit solutions to increasernthe sound transmission class (STC) rating of a base wall assembly. The base assemblyrnconsisted of a nom 2x4 wood stud spaced 16”OC, R13 insulation (3.5”) and 1 layer of 5/8”rnType X gypsum wallboard on source and receiving side. Four retrofit solutions were usedrnincluding; 1 layer of 5/8” Type X gypsum wallboard, 1 layer of Quiet Rock QR528, 1 layerrnof Type X gypsum wallboard with Green Glue, 1 layer of Type X gypsum wallboard withrnGenieClipTM sound isolation clips.
