This paper describes an integrated noise control procedure that exploits noise source identification techniques based on generalized nearfield acoustical holography and noise reduction techniques based on active noise control. Since the noise generation and interaction mechanisms of typical turbomachinery are complicated, a generalized neafield acoustical holography (NAH) is applied to identify the noise sources. The information generated from the NAH is then used with an active noise control (ANC) procedure to generate ‘anti-noise’ to reduce the radiated noise inside the duct. Preliminary results reported here demonstrate the applicability of the integrated NAH/ANC system for noise control in turbomachinery.
