Applying User Dichotomies to the Design of Web User Interfaces

摘要

This paper describes how Web technologies can be combined in a simple way to provide user interfaces that can be adapted by a process of differentiation based on a generic or stem interface to meet the needs of different user groups. The user groups are characterized by means of dichotomies in order to simplify the design space. User dichotomies are end-points of various dimensions on which users differ. In addition to addressing user issues such as age, visual and motor abilities this approach can be applied to the development of multicultural interfaces.
