Stimuli-responsive polymer hydrogels have been extensively studied for their potential applications in biomedical area. However, the applications of conventional hydrogels are limited by their poor mechanical properties. Therefore, how to prepare hydrogels with good mechanical properties is a challenging work. In this paper, nano-composite (NC) co-polymeric hydrogel composed of poly (HEMA-PEGMA-MAA) and attapulgite has been prepared. The structure of the NC hydrogel has been characterized by FTIR and SEM. It has been found that the NC hydrogel exhibit extraordinary tensile mechanical properties and rapid deswelling rate.
