Privatization versus In-House State Forces for Structural Inspections

This paper presents the findings of the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), a State agency, which has been reviewed for its efficiency and cost/benefits as compared to private inspection firms that perform the same tasks. This paper not only compares the cost of inspection services and testing operations, but also considers the responsibility of State agencies to ensure a quality built infrastructure.
