WIRELESS LAN ATTACKS AND VULNERABILITIES

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) are increasing inpopularity in locations such as businesses, educational institutions,Internet cafes, airports, etc. However, wirelesssecurity is a major concern and this paper firstly discussesthe possible insecurity issues existing in current WLANs,and then introduces several fundamental attack techniquessuch as traffic analysis, eavesdropping, session hijacking,replay, man-in-the-middle, etc. Following this, summariesof attacks against confidentiality, integrity and authenticationare made. Finally, several new standards that havebeen developed by the IEEE 802.11i working group arediscussed.
