In a distributed environment like the present Internet, theuse of mobile agents for e-transactions cannot be overemphasized.Based on the foregoing, the security of suchitinerant codes becomes more critical as the agents crisscrossthe heterogeneous and seemingly unsafe networks.In this paper, we presented a hybrid scheme comprising ofthe Caesar Cipher and the traditional Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) algorithm for protecting mobile agentsagainst potentially malicious hosts. This doubleencryption and double decryption methods can be used toensure a more secured transaction in an untrustedenvironment. The empirical results obtained shows thatour scheme is computationally more efficient than thetraditional RSA in terms of processor overhead andmemory/bandwidth utilization.
