N-Formylmorpholine (NFM) is a physical solvent, which has been demonstrated to have significant technical and economic advantages for the treatment of subquality natural gas or synthesis gas. This emerging technology is the product of extensive research / development by the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) and is commercially available to meet your gas treatment needs through Krupp Uhde GmbH (KU). The IGT / KU technology, known as Morphysorb®, has been demonstrated in a program of field tests as a natural gas sweetening application with significant advantages when compared to existing technologies. Morphysorb® has the following characteristics:rn1. Low Capital Investmentrn2. High H_2S / CO_2 Loadingrn3. Higher Product Yieldrn4. Solvent Stabilityrn5. Environmentally Compatiblern6. Operational SimplicityrnMorphysorb®, as a result of the aforementioned characteristics, provides for a superior pay back, up to 50%, for gas processors. Natural gas treating cost (or synthesis gas) is reduced providing the investor greater opportunity for recovery and processing subquality natural gas.rnThe paper discusses the principal features of Morphysorb®, including the research plus field testing which has brought this technology to commercial reality for upgrading both natural gas and synthesis gas with high CO_2 and/or H_2S.
