ACTUATORS AND SENSORS IN STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS

In this paper we discussed the importance of locations and gains of sensors and actuators in structural dynamics. They impact the controllability and observability of a structure and its norms. Using modal state space representation the norms can be used to locate sensors and actuators for structural testing and control, and to sense and/or excite a single mode or a set of selected modes.
