EXPERIENCE FROM OPERATION OF THE JOINT HUNGARIAN-UKRAINIAN HYDROLOGICAL TELEMETRY SYSTEM OF THE UPPER TISZA

Owing to the torrential character of the Upper Tisza and its tributaries, an efficient flood forecasting and early warning system has to be based on telemetry. Following the development of the joint Hungarian-Ukrainian hydrological telemetry system in 2003, the system now provides reliable performance. Further developments will aim to connect the operating and planned systems of both countries in the transboundary region and establish a joint monitoring system.
