TOTAL EXPLORATION AND TOTAL MINING CONCEPT OF THE MINERAL RESOURCES FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT

Present day concept of exploration and mining is unidirectional i.e. exploration and mining done for a single mineral at a place. Moreover, the by-products of mining are discarded or neglected or being lost for ever. This is a direct wastage of natural resources and is a loss to the national wealth pollut' environment and the ecosystem. In this paper, the author has advocated multidirectional approach of exploration and mining defined as "total exploration and total mining", wherein not a single piece of stone nor a drop of water is left unused. The by-products of mining will serve as inputs to other associated ventures, resulting in a strong economic base adding the national exchequer to grow, restore environment, save other natural resources, generate new resources, provide more employment opportunities and many other allied benefits leading to an improvement of the quality of life in the control as a whole.
