A Stand-Alone Generator For Wind Electricity Generation

Today, stand-alone wind electricity generation schemes employ permanent magnet a.c generator or squirrel cage induction generator. Here, a double output induction generator using slip ring induction machine and PWM converters is proposed. It gives output from both stator and rotor if a suitable voltage or current is injected at the rotor terminals. The performance of the system will be superior to others because: 1. Its variable speed operation helps the wind turbine operate at high values of efficiency. 2. It operates at constant frequency and constant voltage irrespective of the rotor speed.
