A partial use of flyash and silica fume in place of Ordinary Portland Cement in the designed M2o grade of concrete (mix proportion = 1 : 1.6 : 3.2, w/c = 0.5) has been tried. A replacement of cement by 15%, 20% and 25% flyash with a constant amount of 10% silica fume has been adopted in this reference mix. Flexural strength at 28 days of maturity and split tensile strength at 28 days and 56 days of maturity have been studied. It has been found that a replacement of cement by 15% flyash and 10% silica fume gives comparable flexural and split tensile strength i.e. 4.15 MPa and 2.31 MPa respectively at 28 days of maturity whereas 4.74 MPa and 2.82 MPa for the normal concrete at same days of maturity. The results of split tensile strength with the same proportion of flyash and silica fume show 2.45 MPa at 56 days of maturity whereas the normal concrete strength is 2.97 MPa.
