The curing of wet films is the essential step in coating technology. Coatings are appliedrnmore and more on thermally sensitive substrate materials and the tendency to shortenrnproduction cycles is also permanently growing. For this reason the use of radiation curingrnat ambient temperature is also increasing in coating technology in order to meet thesernrequirements. In this paper radiation curing of inorganic-organic hybrid polymer coatingrnmaterials is described. The synthesis of suitable precursors, the preparation of the coatingrnmaterial via sol-gel processing and the curing behavior under the influence of radiation isrndescribed. In particular, the effect of ambient pressure plasma and UV radiation as curingrntechniques on hybrid polymer coating materials is discussed.
