4K HDR Carnival – Live Production

Always thinking about how to offer the bestrnquality and experience to our viewers, our projectrnengineering team has adapted TV Globo’s 4K IP OB van torndo a Live Production in 4K HDR of the worldwide famousrnRio Carnival Parade 2017. The cameras used were twornlarge Super 35mm CMOS sensor and four 3-chip 2/3-inchrntype CMOS, all set to 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) at framernrate of 59.94p and ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut at S-Log3.rnThis 4K HDR Live Production was made by UM-7, an OBrnvan that was designed by our team, based on IP NMI systemrnwith COTS IT switches, with one 40Gbps core switchrnconnected to two 10Gbps border switches, concentrating allrnthe 4K signals as cameras, character generator, replays,rnSDI gateways, and more.rnIn addition, the event presented a huge challenge, whichrnwas to carry out two simultaneous productions (4K HDRrnand HD SDR) and sharing cameras among them. Also,rnthere were two live demonstrations using PQ and HLGrncurves to commercial TVs, one at the TV Compound,rnlocated on Salvador de Sá Avenue and another one at TVrnGlobo broadcast center, 10 kilometers away from the event.rnAs a result, we were able to have all formats (HD SDR, 4KrnSDR and 4K HDR – Slog-3, PQ, HLG) available at IPrnrouter to allow live comparisons and demonstrations duringrnthe event.
