In the paper, the structure and the hardware setup of the built system are presented as well as architecture of the developed software are discussed. The main modules of ACO, diagnostics and preliminary optimization are presented. An optimization adaptive control system adjusts the operating conditions so that predefined performance index is optimized. The most important function of the diagnostic module is to recognize of the grinding wheel state. A hybrid system for the preliminary grinding process optimization is proposed. Implementation of artificial intelligence techniques into signal processing, modeling, simulation, control and optimization procedures as the most relevant methods to application in the system is proposed.
